Awesome Ads Of America: Using Babies To Sell Cigarettes

Where to start with this vintage advertisement? First they are using babies to sell cigarettes, which I think is silly because:

a) Unless you live in Thailand, your baby has probably never smoked a cigarette so it doesn’t deserve an opinion.

b) Don’t cigarettes kill babies by making them look super cool?

I have never actually smoked a cigarette in my life, however the idea that they are using the idea that you never feel “over-smoked” with a Marlboro is ironic since everyone always talks about Marlboro Reds being the cigarette of I am going to scorch my lungs so bad that they will just go straight to hell Lindsay Lohan  badasses. They are also catering to a ladies choice of “ivory tips” “plain ends” or “beauty tips (red)” because we all know that the amount of cancer you get depends on the color of your cigarette tip.

Bravo, Philip Morris. You know just how to cater to a lady’s sensibilities.
